[Well, this is interesting. The handwriting isn't Shaun's or hers, which pretty much covers the handwriting she's sure she could recognize on sight. She doesn't think it's Buffy's either.

She tugs out a marker, and very carefully replies, writing backwards so the mirror can read it easily.]

That's correct. Did you also hear I don't like people using pet names for me?

Who am I talking to?

My mistake. Should've went with Georgie, then. Hear you make an exception for that one.

[it's a statement AND an answer.]

[Well it does answer her question. Sort of. Why Rocket's mirror would use British pet names is beyond her.]

That's a nickname, not a pet name. No exception necessary. George is a nickname too.

You're just as pedantic as I thought you'd be.

Hello, yourself. Figured I'd best make my presence known, considering what happened to the last one.

[choosetruth]

[The last one? She hasn't met Rocket's last mirror, to her knowledge. She didn't even know there was a last one compared to this one. And she knows he's baiting her into asking.

Trouble is, she wants to know badly enough that she has to play into his game.

She pauses to give the mirror an unimpressed look before responding.]

Fine. What happened to the last one?

Poor chap wasn't very discerning in who he expresses his feelings about this side to. For a mute, he was pretty chatty.

[Georgia's nothing if not good at putting together clues.]

Are you saying he's one of the people I interviewed and that got him in trouble?

I'm not doing this 'cause I feel a close personal connection to you, Georgie. Just thought I'd give you a little warning about actions having unforeseen consequences.

Figured that one out on my own, actually. It's amazing how much dying can teach you.

You dying's a lot different than the people around you dying.

[If she was the sort of person who emoted more than she does, she'd probably laugh at that. It's a good thing she doesn't. It would be a broken, horrible sound.]

I know you're a smart girl, Georgia. You didn't need me to tell you all this. And it wouldn't matter anyway- you'll do it 'cause it's in your nature.

But we do what's in our nature too, and we can be a right nasty bunch when we want to be.

Some of you can be. Some of us can be too.

[Georgia's certainly capable of being nasty when she chooses it. Nature or not.]

You're using a different dialect than Real Rocket does. Why is that?

Her Majesty thought it sounded more sophisticated.

[She raises an eyebrow, looking at where she expects Rocket's face to be. The sunglasses give her some leeway. Unless he's making an effort not to stand where she'd expect him to be--unlikely, since she can't see him either way--it'll look like she's staring at him.]

[honestly that's the kind of reaction he lives for.]

You that surprised? Her Majesty likes her things a certain way.

Then why isn't everyone British over there?

If you think my accent is the most vexing upgrade from my Real, you're bound to be surprised.

I wouldn't expect you to be anything less than curious.

Poor bloke's an unfinished product is all. Never quite got his full potential worked out.

Seems plenty finished to me.

Only because you don't have any idea what he could be. He's a scrawny little nothing. A prototype.

And you'd know something about being a prototype, wouldn't you?

Sure. I know they're better than what their makers wanted the finished product to be.
